Hellen Beyioku-Alase is a deaf and disability rights activist advocating for the sexual and reproductive health rights of women and girls with disabilities in Nigeria. She is the executive director of the non-governmental organization Deaf Women Aloud Initiative, and the chair of the Deaf Women Association of Nigeria, Abuja Chapter. Hellen is also an alumna of the Disability, Sexuality, and Rights Online Institute, and a member of the Federal Capital Territory's ministerial committee on emergency maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health activities. Hellen is the proud recipient of many local and international awards for her contributions and commitment to improving the lives of women and girls with disabilities. She holds a bachelors degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Abuja in Nigeria. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Hellen plans to establish a sign language and leadership academy for deaf women and girls to teach them effective strategies to combat violence against women with disabilities.
